Industry: Auto Parts Manufacturing
An auto parts manufacturer wanted to make its content more available to employees while improving how access was managed. Its file-share environment also contained documents with embedded references to other files, so migration required attention to more than the files themselves.
6th Street Consulting migrated and organized the shared content into multiple SharePoint Online sites connected through a hub. The project also moved active user drives into OneDrive, aligning shared information and personal working files with their respective destinations.
Migration with structure, access, and links in mind
The SharePoint build-out used security groups within the Microsoft 365 environment to manage access. The hub architecture gave users a central place to search the connected content, and the hub homepage showed the connected sites to improve navigation.
6SC used the LinkTek utility to update embedded links in documents that referenced files in the previous file share. Addressing those references was an important part of preserving the usefulness of documents as their storage locations changed.

Shared content to SharePoint
Shared file-share content was migrated and organized into connected SharePoint Online sites rather than left as an undifferentiated file collection.
Personal drives to OneDrive
Active user-drive content was moved to OneDrive, separating personal working storage from the shared SharePoint architecture.
Embedded document links
LinkTek was used to update references pointing to documents in the former file-share environment.
Navigation, search, and access
A hub and connected-site homepage improved discovery, while security groups supported a more defined access model. Search still respects content permissions.
More available content with a clearer operating model
The manufacturer gained improved content availability, a central search starting point, and clearer navigation across its SharePoint sites. The engagement also addressed group-based access and embedded links, connecting the move to Microsoft 365 with the practical needs of people using the documents.
